What is Normalizing

Normalizing:

Normalizing is a heat treatment process that involves heating a material to a specific temperature and then cooling it in still air. This process is used to improve the mechanical properties of materials by refining their grain structure. Normalizing can improve the toughness and strength of materials, making them more suitable for high-stress applications.

Normalizing is similar to annealing, but the cooling process is done in air instead of slowly. The result is a finer grain structure and improved mechanical properties, such as increased strength and toughness. Normalizing is often used on carbon and low-alloy steels.
