      Therser UK Ltd are the UK’s leading manufacturer of Kilns, Furnaces and associated Automation Systems and are recruiting for the following roll to oversee major projects recently awarded.

      Role Summary:

      Working with a multi-disciplined team, this role is focused on managing projects and activities within the manufacturing engineering department to deliver new projects and support existing products for Heat Treatment Equipment. The project manager will co-ordinate and prioritise activities utilising the available resources which may include future direct reports, team members from other departments and sub-contractors. The project manager will be expected to contribute to the development of the engineering team by leading the way in good engineering practises, while adhering to company standards, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.

      Objectives and Responsibilities:

      • Project management including new Heat Treatment Equipment development, product continuous improvement and support of existing products.
      • Maintaining robust project management principles, highlighting risks and identifying mitigating actions to ensure projects and activities are delivered on time and in budget.
      • Responsible for monitoring and reporting on project performance to both internal and external customers.
      • Liaise and co-ordinate with the sales, operations to ensure a successful end-to-end delivery of the project.
      • Resolve design related manufacturing issues with the in-house manufacturing team and sub-contractors.
      • Undertake mechanical design calculations
      • Design of systems based on design-function relationships.
      • To undertake mechanical design calculations that validate the chosen design concepts
      • Take an active role in the development of the engineering department, including novel engineering solutions and new supplier development.
      • Projects are conducted on a global basis, often with interaction with end users and suppliers, so some travel out of the UK is expected.
      • Experience in the development of P&ID (process & instrumentation diagrams) and contributing to HAZOP meetings would be an advantage.

      Qualifications and Experience:

      • Demonstrated hands on project management experience by delivering successful projects.
      • Engineering degree in a mechanical discipline or equivalent qualification.
      • 3D design CAD experience.
      • Demonstrated team management.
      • Experience in working with ISO9001 processes.
      • Demonstrated experience of working with a new product introduction process.
      • Microsoft Office capable (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, projects). Experience in SAP would be beneficial.

    The Role:

    As an Electrical & PLC / Automation Engineer, you will be a hands-on Engineer as well as a leader. You will plan, document and manage projects associated with the electrical systems for Kilns, Furnaces and associated Automation Systems

    You will be responsible for the electrical systems design throughout the project lifecycle from front end, detailed design and system verification and validation. Depending upon the project size the works are likely to be undertaken by subcontractor’s design however, you will be responsible for requesting the correct documentation and data required for the site maintenance system and compliance to site and regulatory standards. You must be flexible to adapt to work with all different kinds of projects at various stages of their life cycle predominately located at our offices in Stoke on Trent however, there may be occasion to travel within the UK and occasionally overseas.

    Other responsibilities:

    • Generating Scope of Works, layout drawings and single line diagrams.
    • Liaising with clients and suppliers, including site surveys and feasibility studies
    • Working from P & ID’s to establish design (loop diagrams, termination drawings, cable routing, panel design).
    • Experience in contributing to HAZOP meetings would be an advantage.
    • Design ,programming and Commissioning of PLC’s / instrumentation
    • Commissioning of motors (setting up inverters etc)
    • Design and Generate schematics, termination diagrams & layouts
    • To work with the Engineering / Project team to ensure projects are formally closed off on completion
    • Work within budgets for design, control panel procurement and electrical installation
    • Prepare site documentation and assistance
    • Ensure all projects adhere to Health and Safety legislation; Carry out health and safety inspections for and with the H&S Manager
    • Adhering to all customer policies and procedures.
    • Work to ensure compliance with DSEAR regulation and BS EN 61508/61511where applicable

    Experience:

    An ideal candidate would demonstrate competence in the following areas, however prior experience or training is some of these areas is not essential as this will be gained through on the job shadowing where required:

    • AutoCAD experience
    • HAZOP/PHR/LOPA
    • COMAH
    • Experience with roller conveyor and automation lines
    • Cable specifications & sizing (Utilising Amtech, or similar).
    • ATEX/DSEAR Awareness (any associated training) and protection concepts (To enable purchasing of equipment & location of same within the environment)
    • Knowledge of Microsoft packages
    • Procurement of materials
    • Awareness of standards, wiring regulations etc
    • Project management (not essential)
    • Functional Safety/Safety instrumented systems (not essential)
    • Design of substations/transformers (not essential)
    • PLC Programming (Not essential) including design of PLC systems (Hardware, I/O allocation etc), liaison with suppliers to determine interface requirements, loadings etc.

    Education:

    Diploma of Higher Education (Preferred)

    Hours and Environment:

    Your working hours could vary according to the type of project you are working on. Your typical hours would be 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, although you may need to work longer when deadlines are approaching. You would usually be office-based, but may spend some of your time attending meetings or visiting contractors and suppliers. Some projects may involve travel and spending time away from home. Flexible approach to working hours and your role is essential.

    We are looking for a competent design engineer with hands on knowledge of Roller Conveyors, Automation Systems and Robotics Integration. Some of your day to day responsibilities will include; using AutoDesk Inventor to produce designs and subsequently drawings for manufacture, undertaking mechanical design calculations as well as material and equipment specification.

    Other responsibilities:

    - Resolve design related manufacturing issues with the in-house manufacturing team and sub-contractors.

    - Review customer provided tender documentation and asses the compliance of the company’s products.

    Mechanical Design Engineer Requirements:

    - Experience of working on the design of electro-mechanical machinery. Ideally with an appreciation of pneumatics systems, conveyors or precision mechanical assemblies.

    - A formal mechanical engineering qualification with at least 3 years industry experience.

    - A creative approach with exposure to New Product Development from concept through to production.

    - Hands on experience of a 3D CAD system.

    - Experience in the development of P&ID (process & instrumentation diagrams) and contributing to HAZOP meetings would be an advantage.

    Experience:

    Roller Conveyor and Cad : 3 years (Preferred)

    Education:

    Diploma of Higher Education (Preferred)
