New manufacturing and office sites for award-winning firm

Kiln and furnace manufacturer Therser UK has signed deals on two new sites following a year of significant growth.

The Stoke-on-Trent firm is preparing to move its fabrication and weld facility from Hyde Park, in Fenton, to a larger base in Meir Park being vacated by a car accessories wholesaler.

Last summer, Therser acquired the rights of Almor Wellman, in Tipton, in the Black Country, keeping its buildings and staff.

It has now secured a new office building for the employees based down there, with that move also imminent.

Sales and Marketing Co-ordinator Gary Woollam said: “Stoke-on-Trent is pottery-rich and we do a lot of work in the local area with various pottery firms.

“But we diversified not so long ago to include battery material, alloys, steel heat treatment and also work with the aerospace industry.

“After some good growth, we’re pleased to be investing in two new sites for our work.”

Therser was founded in 2009 and has its head office workshop, assembly hall and refractory fibre shop all based in Burslem, in Stoke-on-Trent, but has sites across the Midlands.

Its products are sent to customers all over the world.

Therser win Small Business of Year Award at the Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards.

Last year, Therser was named Small Business of the Year at the Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards, pictured above, and the company has entered the Medium/Large Business of the Year category in this year’s awards.

It employs over 60 people across all its sites and is always on the look-out for more project engineers and electrical engineers.

Gary added: “Some of our kilns can be 30 to 60 metres long and the new site in Meir Park will provide more workshop space for us. There’s also the potential for new jobs to be created.”
