What is Spheroidizing

Spheroidizing:

Spheroidizing is a heat treatment process used to improve the machinability and ductility of materials. This process involves heating the material to a specific temperature and holding it there for a period of time to encourage the formation of spherical carbides. Spheroidizing can improve the formability and machinability of materials, making them easier to work with.

When a material is spheroidized, the carbides that form during cooling are transformed into spherical particles. This reduces the brittleness of the material and makes it more ductile, improving its formability and machinability. Spheroidizing is often used on low-carbon steels and other ferrous alloys.
